Sea Life – Grapevine, Texas
Sea Life is an aquarium located in the Grapevine Mills mall in Grapevine, Texas. We visited the Sea Life Aquarium in conjunction with our visit to the Legoland Discover Center. They are literally across from each other in the mall.
We purchased the Combi Ticket to Sea Life and Legoland, which saved us $9 on the Legoland tickets. Both were overpriced in my opinion, although I wouldn’t have been too concerned about spending a little more on the aquarium tickets, just because I know the work and money that goes into aquariums!
We didn’t have a whole lot of time for the aquarium because we were meeting our friends outside of Dallas for lunch. The Grapevine Mills mall didn’t open until 11am on Sunday, so we were in a bit of a rush. Saying that, you don’t need more than 45 minutes to an hour to see the whole aquarium. Our son was so excited that he practically ran through the entire place.
This is not a huge aquarium by any means, but it does appear to have been created with children in mind. All of the tanks are the kid’s eye view level and there are educational displays throughout. Some of the aquariums even have little bubbles so that kids can look into the tanks and feel like they are in the tanks. Our son loved these.
The walk through tanks were also very cool. They have a huge sea turtle that swims around and you’ll see him every once in awhile. The sharks, rays and fish are very cool as well.
While I’m sure that the Dallas Aquarium is much nicer and larger, this is a great kids aquarium. I don’t know that we’ll be back, but if I were to choose between the aquarium and Legoland, I’d probably go with aquarium.
