Plaça de Catalunya is really the heart of Barcelona and it’s one of our favorite places to visit. About 6 years ago, we visited when our son was 2 and the entire plaza had tons of pigeons that he chased all over. This year, we came at Christmas time and the entire plaza was full of creative noisemakers for the kids to play with, activities, booths selling a variety of products, art and crafts. There was also a giant snow globe that you could go inside as well as a giant robotic ballerina. The ballerina was later used in the Three Kings Day Parade. For Three Kings Day, they had an area where the kids could write letters to the Three Kings with their Christmas wishes and hang them on the “trees.” From Plaça de Catalunya, you can explore more of the heart of Barcelona, such as the Gothic Quarter or the Borne.
