We stopped at the Dove Creek Dinner Bell on our way to Utah. They have a varied menu with a few unique options as well as traditional diner fare.
I had the taco salad. Overall, it was very good and I liked the homemade taco shell. It was a little on the light side and I found myself a little hungry afterwards. I had the beef and it came topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and with a side of red chili and sour cream.
TJ had the ham grilled cheese with tater tots. This was actually a very good combination. The sandwich was great.
The restaurant is a small hometown diner. It’s a place where everyone knows each other and has family photos, deer trophies and funny signs on the walls. The bathrooms were particularly funny. The service was very good.
I had the open face green chili burger with fries, which was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. The green chili sauce gave it a good kick. It was worth every penny of $11 and I was stuffed afterwards. I can see how it is one of the most popular items on the menu.
Overall, it could have been a bit cleaner in my opinion, but it was also a very busy and popular place. I would go back simply for the open face green chili burger though.
