On our way home from our ten day trip, we were driving through Tennessee and I searched TripAdvisor in search for a place to eat lunch. I found Blue Smoke BBQ on TripAdvisor and we popped the address into our GPS. Where we ended up was The Rusty Barn. We assumed that Blue Smoke BBQ had closed and The Rusty Barn was its replacement. When we were paying, I noticed that the credit card receipts said Blue Smoke BBQ, so we asked the server out of curiosity and she said “they had to change the name.”
Despite that oddity, we were very impressed with The Rusty Barn. I ordered the pulled pork with baked beans, roasted potatoes and garlic bread.
My husband ordered the Cajun Pasta and our son ordered butter and cheese pasta with French fries. The food was very good and the menu had several options.
I’m always nervous when it comes to name changes of restaurants, but it appears to not have much of an effect on the food and service compared to the reviews that I’d read on TripAdvisor.

The restaurant itself was decorated in cute country décor with a great big fireplace in the middle. The service was also very good and prompt. We were very pleased and if we’re ever driving back through Newport, Tennessee, we’d likely stop there again.
