Two weeks from yesterday, we will be departing Miami, Florida for our cruise to the Bahamas. This will actually be our fourth cruise and our third cruise with Carnival. Last year we visited the Bahamas, but took Royal Caribbean and it was just a short weekend cruise to Nassau and their private island Coco Cay.

After discovering that snorkeling is about the coolest thing in the world and acquiring a new Olympus underwater camera, we decided that it was prudent to get on a cruise ship this summer as soon as possible. We’re beginning to run out of cruise options because we’ve been on most of the Caribbean cruises already, but I did find one that had a new destination that we’ve yet to explore. The cruise we selected is:

5 Days Eastern Caribbean from Miami, FL on the Carnival Destiny

Day 1 – Leave Miami at 4pm

Day 2 – Fun Day at Sea

Day 3 – Grand Turk (of the Turks and Caicos Islands)

Day 4 – Half Moon Cay, the Bahamas (Holland American and Carnival’s Private Island)

Day 5 – Nassau, the Bahamas

Day 6 – Back in Miami at 8am

With the 100+ degree temperatures we’ve been experiencing in Texas here lately, it probably sounds crazy that we’re looking forward to the 80-90 degrees in the islands, but that’s actually going to be a cool off for us! In fact, it will likely be downright beautiful if the humidity isn’t too excessive (it was last year, but at I can dream – right?)

As far as shore excursions go, we’ve only got one planned and that’s in Grand Turk. The island is known for it’s excellent scuba diving and it’s protected coral reef, so I except the snorkeling will be fabulous. I’m also sure that we’ll go snorkeling on Half Moon Cay as well. We haven’t decided on what we’re going to do in Nassau yet. We might just wonder around town and we’ve considered the Segway tour, just because we’re intrigued by them. We’re open to any suggestions if anybody has them though.

Tell us, have you been on a cruise? What’s been your favorite destinations thus far?
