While Val visited her sister and new nephew in Oklahoma, I took TJ to the Mineola May Days Festival. The festival is held each year at the Mineola Civic Center. It features a lot of your typical fair food, carnival rides and games as well as booths selling crafts, etc. They also hold a Wiener Dog Race (which we unfortunately missed) and a concert (this year was country music’s Johnny Rodriguez). It was a great way to get out of the house with the kids and enjoy the nice weather.
For food, we went with a cheeseburger, fried zucchini and corn dog. TJ really liked his corn dog:
And TJ was devastated when we had to leave, so that must mean that the Mineola May Days is really fun and worth going to if you find yourself down in the area. While you’re here, be sure to check out the Just Between Friends Antique Mall for some of their fresh fudge. It’s really good and they have several flavors to choose from. I also recommend Ranchero’s Buffet for lunch or dinner.
